help restock the shelves
Grace Church's Food for Friends shelves are nearly empty as well. Last Saturday, we responded to a call for donations from the Ukrainian Church in Whippany. We cleared out our shelves and dropped off food and supplies that will be sent to Ukraine for the refugees and troops. We need your help restocking! Please bring donations for the Military Assistance Pantry this Sunday, or drop them off in the Grace Lobby any time this week.
Thank you for your generosity.

Rite 13 is a ceremony that celebrates a child's rite of passage into adolescence. Rite 13 offers a way to mark the transition to adolescence while saving the rite of confirmation for high schoolers who have had more time to grapple with what they believe. Rite 13 is a complement to Confirmation, not a replacement. This is an opportunity for families and friends to gather and recognize the maturation of our youth. The ceremony is for youth turning 13 before the next school year starts or who have turned 13 since last July. Most who participate are in 7th or 8th grade.
An application form for participation in the next ceremony of September 2019 can be submitted to the church office (see form).

Please remember to include items to donate to Food for Friends when you shop. We can always use hearty soup, chili, stew (the higher protein is better), canned chicken, Spam, tuna, Vienna sausages, peanut butter, 100% fruit juice, shelf-stable milk, powdered milk (smaller pouches preferred), healthy cereal, instant oatmeal, rice and rice mixes (smaller packages). Learn more. Contact Barbara Hughes for more information.
North Porch has seen an increased need. As you can imagine, the shelves are near empty! Please help stock them by adding some baby item when you grocery shop. The most needed items are Enfamil (yellow), size 6 diapers, wipes, Stage 2 baby food, baby wash/diaper cream. Thank you!~ Crary Brooks & Stacy Wilde

Worship update
In light of the recent COVID surge in our area, we are encouraging home worship using our live-stream. This is especially true if you have any COVID symptoms, are unvaccinated, are immunocompromised, or have had COVID exposure in the past 5 days.
For people who worship in person, please note that masks will be worn at all times (covering the nose too, please!) and that social distancing is critically important. For safety reasons, worship is shortened and there is no Coffee Hour at this time. The 8AM and 4PM services are very brief, spoken services. Minimal music is offered at the 10AM service. More information at COVID ActNow.

Morning Prayer Service
Monday-Saturday at 8:30am in Grace Zoom Room
Daily Morning Prayer will be temporarily suspended in the month of August. Please know that we are all still praying! The prayer list on our website will always be current, as the needs of the world will not stop, and God’s people do not take vacation from prayer. But this will provide Worship Leaders a break from extra screen time in the parish Zoom room.

A Communicant of Grace Church is one who worships regularly at Grace, has received Communion here at least three times in the past year, and has contributed to general parish support in the past year in an amount at least equal to the church and clergy fees charged to non-parishioners ($1200 – $1500, depending upon whether the clergy perform the premarital counseling). If at least one member of the couple, or the parents of one member, fit this definition, the “Communicant rate” applies. If the required contribution has not been received y the church one month prior to the wedding, the rule for non-members applies.

Clergy Fees
-
Communicant: no fee
It is traditional for the couple to give the priest an honorarium. The size and nature of the wedding, other fees, and the amount of time required of the clergy should be taken into account when determining the amount. (The fees charged to non-communicants can be used as a guideline.) The couple should consult with the clergy person about how to make out an honorarium check.
-
Non-member: If the clergy person does the premarital counseling: $700.
If the counseling is done at an approved site: $400.
Note: If an unusual amount of time in preparation is required (additional counseling sessions, coordination with other clergy, extra correspondence, etc.) the amount of the fee will be adjusted accordingly.
